Sunday - Interesting News

Hi it's a good day. My son Trevor stopped in and has been puttering around, cleaning the garage and his vechicle. We had a nice lunch and a chat.

Got a email from my good friend Dany in Italy and she has openned a store the address is http://www.etsy.com/shop.pap?user-id5001567. I didn't even know this site existed. Dany is a wonderful quilter and machine embroider and is now doing some hand embroidery. I wish her all the best and hope you will go and look at her handmade treasures.

I have spent the morning and afternoon in between visiting with Trev and walking Bosie with computer work. I have updated the membership list for our Embroidery Guild, and completed a weight loss sheet for my T.O.P.S. group.

Off to Staples to have some printing done and then to the grocer. Lucky me don't have to walk today Trev will drive me (I'm so spoiled).

I will spent the evening pampering myself and doing needlework.

We are expecting our first snow storm in the city, tomorrow should be bad on the roads with ice and snow. It's pretty out now just a small amount of snow coverage the worst will happen overnite.

I have attached a picture of my dog Bosie

Blanket Stitch or Buttonhole Stitch

Hi well this Stitchalong is a very inspiring project for me. Every time I look at someone's photos my mind clicks and another idea.

I was just doing straight rows on my sampler and then loo and behold some one did curves and half moons on a slant so I have experimented with a heart.

Regular blanket stitch with a row of chain stitch in the centre and half embellished with beads

Closed blanket stitch with a french knot in the centre and a detached chain stitch on top

Heart done in pinks and embellished with beads.

Thanks Needleworkers.

Alright finally I have solved the problem of fuzzy pictures. You can now see the stitching on my sampler. I'm so relieved.

Have a great day.

Stitchalong - Herringbone

Evening it's been a busy day. Finally got the Christmas tree and decorations down and put away. Then rearranged the furniture and vacumn. On to more enjoyable news.

I completed the Herringbone stitch on my sampler and can't wait for till next Tuesday to see what stitch Sharon has lined up for us to do. My pictures seem to be fuzzy, must work with the camera more. Also must learn how to move the photos around on this blog.

I'm going to transfer my blog from the quilter's site to here and just maybe I will keep my resolution to keep this up-to-date.

The last row was done with a fine mohair wool then a cotton varigated knitting yarn was used to put a straight stitch in the centre and then a yellow bead was added.

Hope you have a lovely weekend I'm going upstairs to stitch and watch TV.

Happy Stitching Mary Ann

Cleaning the Craft Closet.

Afternoon it's been a busy day. I got up this morning and out I went with Bosie for our morning walk, the sun was shining but a cool wind.

Arrive home and was making my breakfast when I thought this would be a good day to do a load of laundry and vacumn the sewing room and downstairs hallway. Well down I went and lo and behold I made the mistake of looking in the closet, of course, as I had been making and finishing Christmas presents wool was on the floor, stencils scattered lids off boxes etc. So I started picking up not throwing out but straightening, hiding, tidying up etc. when I should have been sorting and getting rid of goodies but I am a pack rat so will do this another day. I finished about noon so no vacumning was done another day it's lunch time.

I worked for about an hour on my sampler with the herringbone stitch.

The first row is DMC5 colour orange and DMC8 colour white both pearl cotton.

The second row is Neon Rays colour light green and Patina colour dark green these threads were left over from a workshop I did many years ago.

I have also put up a picture of the ort box which was a workshop at the guild. I really enjoyed doing this.

Well I haven't mastered how to put the pictures where I want them to go seems, it seems to always go on top of the document. I know you can place them in between text but don't know how yet.

My son Trevor dropped in he has a booth at the flea market selling knitted goods and craft items from Eucador seems he needed some repairs done.

I will say good nite for now and perhaps I will stitch a bit more.

Hugs Mary Ann

OK hopefully this will work.

Evening: Well it's been an eventful day. Started my first meeting of TOPS and the women were great. This should be a fun group and hopefully I will do some serious work on my diet and exercise.

Went up to the Town Centre and returned some bad choices I made for Christmas. Finally arrived home and went to the park with my dogie-do Bosie the black lab. Then home and it was time to get started on a fun project. I'm doing a stitchalong with Sharon on inaminuteago. I have loaded a picture of the fabric with a few stitches to see if this works.

Hopefully you can get a feed on this.
